Super simple and flavorful dessert that can be made in 15 minutes max!! I’m not a huge fan of Arabic dessert, but I couldn’t resist going back for more the first time I tried it. This recipe was created by my creative mother in law 🙂
Ingredients:
-2 Packages of vermicelli (pic below for the brand I used, it’s a thin vermicelli)
-1/4 cup butter
-1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
-1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
-1 tablespoon rose water
-crushed pistachios for garnish
Directions:
-Break up the vermicelli by hand while it’s in the bag into fine pieces about 1/2 inch long
-Heat a large pot and melt the butter, place the vermicelli in the pot with the butter and keep mixing it with a wooden spoon for about 7-10 minutes until the vermicelli is coated with butter and turns a light golden brown color
-you can add cardamom, rose water, and the sweetened condensed milk when the color is golden brown and mix until the mixture is fully coated. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.
-grab little handfuls of the mixture and squeeze it in your hand to get rid of the extra condensed milk , then roll it into a ball
-place crushed pistachios on top
-refrigerate until you’re ready to serve! The mixture might look too “wet” when you’ve rolled it but once it cools down the noodles will soak up the excess moisture.
***If you don’t want it to be too sweet, you can place less sweetened condensed milk
Enjoy with a cup of tea 🙂
